Mental illness and life leads to mugshot fame for Cincinnati woman
The story of Charlene Thompson, 61, has gone viral with national media attention. Thompson is a Cincinnati woman who is accused of throwing hot grease on another woman during an argument. It was not so much the fish grease that is making the story trend, but rather Thompson’s mugshot.
Thompson’s facial features have been called threatening, sad and hilarious by many who have seen the image. Not helping her case is her criminal history of violent assaults over the years. Now more information and prior mugshots are coming out about Thompson that begins to paint a tragic figure. According to WLWT-News, Thompson suffers from mental illness, and her defense attorney stated at her recent bond hearing “She gets SSI for paranoid schizophrenia, for which she is being regularly treated.”
In addition a neighbor stated that Thompson tried to throw hot grease on him and missed last year. He further stated to WLWT that Thompson probably had not taken her medication. Assistant Hamilton County Prosecutor David Wood indicated he would be seeking a high bond. Wood wrote in a statement to the court “I’m requesting a high bond as the court is well aware, burns are some of the most devastating, painful, debilitating, long-term injures that someone can suffer.”
Thompson is being held under a $52,000 bond and has court dates scheduled for Dec. 14 and Dec. 18. Previous mugshots of Thompson reveal a startling transformation and can be seen below:
