DaBaby lights up the stage at Clark Atlanta University’s Homecoming 2019

DaBaby lit up the stage with his performance during Clark Atlanta University’s Homecoming 2019 concert.

On Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2019, students started lining up around 5:30 p.m. behind the gate at the entrance to the historically Black university’s 5,000-seat Panther Stadium — two-and-a-half hours before the outdoor concert was scheduled to begin at 8 — excited to see the 27-year-old rapper from Charlotte, North Carolina.

Several rappers and singers warmed up the crowd before DaBaby hit the stage, ready to give fans exactly what they were waiting for. For two hours, he performed most of the songs on his third project, Kirk, which debuted Sept. 27 at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and currently sits at No. 3. The 13-track album features collaborations with some of hip-hop’s biggest names, including Migos, Nicki Minaj, Gucci Mane, Chance The Rapper, Moneybagg Yo, LilBaby, Stunna 4 Vegas, YK Osiris and Kevin Gates.

DaBaby took it up a notch when he ran into the crowd while rapping “VIBEZ.â€  Throughout his performance, he seemed to want to touch every person in the crowd, whether they were up close to the stage or high up in the stands.

At one point, DaBaby was performing his song “Intro to a sea of flashing cellphone lights, as the crowd screamed the lyrics along with him. His performance had students ready to do a show of their own.

Before leaving the stage, he knew exactly what the students wanted to hear because all of them began to scream his single “BOP, word for word, giving him no other option but to chime in with them.
